November 2016\, 19 Uhr\nWo: Amerlinghaus\, Stiftgasse 8\, 1070 Wien \nEnglisch below. \n„Observation and Observation“ – Beobachtung und noch mehr Beobachtung –\nwar das Motto des berühmten Physiologen Ivan Pavlov\, angebracht in großen\nLettern an Pavlovs einst weltberühmtem Institut nahe Leningrad (heute St.\nPetersburg). \nFast hundert Jahre später wird hier immer noch geforscht\, allerdings unter\ngänzlich anderen Bedingungen: An zwei einsamen Primaten\, der Schimpansin\nGina und dem Rhesusäffchen Krokha\, werden in der notorisch\nunterfinanzierten Einrichtung Tests zu Gedächtnisleistungen und Motivation\ndurchgeführt. \nFilmemacherin Daria Kirillova stattet der Einrichtung einen Besuch ab und\ntrifft dort neben Gina und Krokha auch auf die noch verbliebenen\nwissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterinnen des Instituts. \nWir freuen uns sehr\, dass die Filmemacherin selbst anwesend sein wird\, um\nüber ihr Verhältnis zu den im Film gezeigten Menschen und Tieren zu\nberichten. \nDaria Kirillovas Interessen liegen im Bereich der Animal Studies\, der\nTierbefreiung und der Auseinandersetzung mit Mensch-Tier-Verhältnissen.\nDer Kurzfilm „Observation and Observation“ enstand im Rahmen ihrer\nkünstlerischen Diplomarbeit. \nFilm and Discussion: „Observation and Observation“\nA Film by Daria Kirillova\n29 min\, Russian with English subtitles \nWhen: Friday\, 11. November 2016\, 7 pm\nWhere: Amerlinghaus\, Stiftgasse 8\, 1070 Vienna \n„Observation and Observation“ was famous physiologist Ivan Pavlov’s motto\,\nwhich he had inscribed in large letters on the entrance to his research\ncomplex at Koltushi near Leningrad (St. Petersburg). \nNearly a hundred years later\, the observation is still underway\, albeit\nunder changed conditions: Two lonely primates\, chimpanzee Gina and rhesus\nmacaque Krokha are the remaining subjects\, undergoing memory and\nmotivational tests at the notoriously underfunded institute. \nWhen filmmaker Daria Kirillova pays a visit to the institution\, she not\nonly encounters Gina and Krokha but also meets up with its scientific\npersonnel. \nWe are happy to have Daria Kirilillova attend the screening to talk about\nthe relationships portrayed in her film. \nDaria Kirillova’s interest lies in the field of animal studies\, animal\nliberation movement and politics of relationship between human and other\nanimals. The film „Observation and Observation“ was created as her\nartistic diploma thesis. \n
