Performativer Rundgang mit Mihret Kebede
DESCRIPTION:Die aktive Einschreibung in einen Raum durch subtile Gesten und minimalistische Eingriffe\, kennzeichnet die künstlerische Praxis von Nina Schuiki. In ihren mitunter poetischen Arbeiten lotet sie das Verhältnis von Kunst und Emotionalität aus und versucht\, die flüchtigen Momente affektiver Zustände zu konservieren. Ebenso begreift Mihret Kebede in ihrem Gedicht „an intimate exile\, a personal lament\, a collective grief“ Erinnerung als eine Form von Intimität. Darin thematisiert und hinterfragt sie die Definition von „im Exil sein“ in Bezug auf unser Verständnis von Raum\, Geografie\, Standort und Zugehörigkeit. Der in amharischer und englischer Sprache verfasste Text bildet den Ausgangspunkt für ihren performativen Rundgang\, in dem sie Bezug auf die Arbeiten von Nina Schuiki nimmt. Dabei entfaltet sich ein Dialog zwischen dem gesprochenen Wort und der Materialität der präsentierten Objekte.  \nNina Schuiki wurde mit dem MehrWERT-Kunstpreis 2021 ausgezeichnet\, der im Rahmen der Kooperation mit dem Sponsoringprogramm der Erste Bank seit 2016 jährlich vergeben wird. Zusätzlich zu der Einzelausstellung in das weisse haus\, inkludiert die Auszeichnung einen einmonatigen Aufenthalt in London samt Präsentation im dort beheimateten Österreichischen Kulturforum von 15.12.2021–31.01.2022.\nDie multidisziplinäre Künstlerin und Lyrikerin Mihret Kebede ist Mitbegründerin von Tobiya Poetic Jazz\, des Künstler*innenkollektivs Netsa Art Village und des Addis Video Art Festivals. Sie studierte Malerei und Kunst an der Addis Abeba University School of Fine Arts and Design und nahm an lokalen und internationalen Ausstellungen\, Workshops\, Poesie-Performances\, Residencies und Kunstprojekten teil. Derzeit ist sie Doktorandin an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. \nenglish below:\nNina Schuikis practice is characterized by the active inscription in a space with subtle gestures and minimalist interventions. In her sometimes poetic works\, she explores the relationship between art and emotionality and aims to preserve the fleeting moments of affective states.\nIn her poem „an intimate exile\, a personal lament\, a collective grief“ Mihret Kebede understands memory as a form of intimacy. The text problematizes and questions the definition of „being in exile“ in relation to our understanding of space\, geography\, location\, and belonging. It is a conversation between Amharic and English languages with the same concepts slightly differently expressed in parallel and serves as the starting point for her performative tour\, in which she refers to the works of Nina Schuiki. Thus a dialogue unfolds between the spoken word and the materiality of the presented objects.  \nNina Schuiki received the ExtraVALUE Art Award 2021\, which has been awarded annually since 2016 as part of the cooperation with the Sponsoring Program of Erste Bank. In addition to the solo exhibition at das weisse haus\, the prize includes a one-month residency in London including a presentation at the Austrian Cultural Forum from December 15\, 2021 to January 31\, 2022. \nMihret Kebede is a multi-disciplinary artist and poet\, co-founder of Tobiya poetic Jazz\, Netsa Art village artists collective\, and Addis video art festival. She studied painting and arts at Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts and has participated in several local and international exhibitions\, workshops\, poetry performances\, residencies\, and collaborative art projects.
