DESCRIPTION:Vortrag: Nikita Dhawan (Innsbruck)\nNikita Dhawan is Professor of Political Science (Political Theory and Gender Studies) and Director of the Research Platform Gender Studies: „Identities – Discourses – Transformations“ at the University of Innsbruck\, Austria. \nCan Non-Europeans Theorize?\nTransnational Literacy and Planetary Ethics in a Global Age\nIn his much-discussed essay “Can non-Europeans think?” Hamid Dabashi (2013) explores how European thinking lays claim to universality by ideologically obscuring its provinciality. Theorizing in terms of grand narratives\, the self-confidence of European thinkers stems from their self-perception as the “measure and yardstick of globality”. Following Dabashi\, my talk will outline the direct structural link between Empire and European self-centrism and their disregard of other worlds and other ways of being-in-the-world. However\, unlike Dabashi’s optimism of non-European epistemologies displacing the hegemony of European thinking\, I will argue that decolonization cannot be realized through the “mere” inclusion of previously marginalized non-Western approaches into the canon as this will not undo the normative violence of knowledge production. My talk will focus on how the pursuit of political and economic justice in the era of globalization must be supplemented by an “epistemic change” (Spivak). Here the role of cultivating transnational literacy and planetary ethics will be addressed. \nKünstlerischer Beitrag: MUTUA\nMamadou Diabatè (Burkina Faso; Kora\, Balafon) Jon Sass (USA; Tuba)\, Wolfgang Puschnig (Österreich; Altsaxophon\, Flöte) \nSeit der spontanen Gründung des Trios hat sich durch experimentieren\, proben und live Auftritte eine Musik entwickelt\, die schwierig zu kategorisieren ist. Obwohl die einzelnen Welten der drei Musiker klar hörbar sich ausbreiten\, entsteht durch ihr Zusammenwirken ein eigener musikalischer Kosmos wo die Grenzen sich auflösen\, einen neuen Raum schaffen fern jeglicher Stilfragen.
