Termin: Power Structures \nVortrag: José Jorge de Carvalho (Brasília)\nPh.D. der Anthropologie an der Queen’s University in Belfast; Professor der Anthropologie an der Universität von Brasília; Leiter des “Institute of Inclusion in Higher Education and in Research” des nationalen Forschungsrates. Hauptverfechter der Förderungsmaßnahmen (speziell Quoten) von afro-brasilianischen und indigenen Student_innen an brasilianischen Universitäten.  Mitbegründer der “Meeting of Knowledges“-Bewegung. \nCreating a Space for Transcultural Experience:\nThe Movement of ‘Meeting of Knowledges‘ in Latin American Universities\nThe Latin American continent is marked\, since the colonial days\, by the ideologies of mixing of races\, cultural hybridity\, in-betweenness\, and syncretism. It was in the context of these ideas that the concept of transculturation was coined\, in 1940\, by Cuban anthropologist and ethnomusicologist Fernando Ortiz. Seventy-six years later\, we are still searching for ways of implementing transculturality in order to overcome hierarchies and prejudices between peoples and nations.\nSince its beginning in 2010 in the University of Brasília\, the Meeting of Knowledges has promoted the inclusion of masters of traditional knowledges (Indigenous\, Afro-Brazilian\, and of popular cultures) as Visiting Professors in regular courses\, undergraduate and graduate\, in spite of the fact they do no have academic titles\, and most of them are illiterate. The project (or rather\, movement)\, has already expanded to several Brazilian universities as well as to other Latin American countries. The meeting of traditional masters (and many of them are masters of music and correlated performing arts) with academics of the Western type of doctorate is generating a pluriepistemic space where it has become possible to transcend the modern academic monoculture and finally to experience the condition of transculturality. \nKünstlerischer Beitrag: Ismael Ivo\n„Ismael Ivo studierte Schauspiel und Tanz in Brasilien und trat dort als Solotänzer auf\, bis er 1983 von Alvin Ailey nach New York eingeladen wurde. Dort setzte er seine Arbeit als Choreograf und Tänzer mit solistischen Stücken fort […]\, in denen die charismatische Intensität und skulpturale Kraft seines Stiles ihm bald internationales Ansehen einbrachten. […]“ (Oxford Dictionary of Dance\, Oxford University Press) 1984 gründete er gemeinsam mit Karl Regensburger das heute größte europäische Tanzfestival ImPulsTanz in Wien. \nDelirium of a Childhood (Videoaufzeichnung)\nIsmael Ivo zeigt eine Videoaufzeichnung seines Solostückes “Delirium of a Childhood”. In tänzerischer Form wird das Leiden eines hungernden Kindes dargestellt. Das Stück ist Ismael Ivos persönlichstes Werk. “Delirium of a Childhood” ist ein Traum – es stellt den Versuch dar die Realität durch die Augen eines Kindes zu betrachten. In der Musik überlagern sich zwei Welten: Gustav Mahlers „Kindertotenlieder“ und Originalaufnahmen von traditionellen afrikanischen Wiegenliedern. Das Stück nutzt die Macht von Kunst und Tanz als Instrumente für die Anregung von Reflexion und offener Diskussion. \nKommentar und Moderation: Ursula Hemetek (mdw) \nDie einzelnen Veranstaltungen sind bei freiem Eintritt öffentlich zugänglich. \n
