Acts of Keeping // Presentation INSERT #10

INSERT. Artistic Practices as Cultural Inquiries is a platform seeking to bring together artistic, scientific and curatorial practices in the frame of culture analytical research. With Acts of Keeping: Vernacular Archives and Social Performances of Memory the editors focus on family albums, a dress, embodied repertoires, collected militaria – which exist outside of institutional record-keeping and follow their own logics of care, contingency and social relation. The archive is hereby understood both as a repository and as an event. The question of how artistic research can stay accountable to the vernacular properties of its objects remains open.
