Play as a means of challenging social norms, structures, and conventions lies at the heart of the exhibition project Against the Playbook. Through playful yet politically charged works, the participating artists engage with civil disobedience, uprisings, body politics, and acts of solidarity. Let us question the rules of society and collectively imagine alternative worlds to the status quo.
The multi-part project is a collaboration between DAS WEISSE HAUS and philomena+. The artistic works, produced almost exclusively for the exhibition, are presented in both exhibition spaces in the form of installations, film pieces, performances, and participatory formats. At DAS WEISSE HAUS, it unfolds as a group show while philomena+ presents the interactive project Public Intimacy by Sedra Arab & Engy Mohsen and the performance-installation OHrGrüN/VerT d’OreiLLe by Myriam El Haïk.
