ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival

Founded in 1984, ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival has grown into one of the world’s leading festivals for contemporary dance and performance. From 9 July to 9 August 2026, the 43rd edition presents 56 productions across 15 venues all over Vienna. The programme features 12 world premieres, 29 Austrian premieres, 5 ImPulsTanz Classics and 11 pieces from the [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series. And in 239 workshops and research projects, everyone is invited to dance at Vienna’s Arsenal over four weeks. 138 international and local teaching artists invite dance enthusiasts from around the world to explore 16 departments such as Composition & Repertory, Social & Freestyle-based Dance, Jazz and Modern. The festival also invites to the Festival Lounge at Burgtheater Vestibül – as well as to two evenings at Arkadenhof at Vienna City Hall for big parties.
