3 Million

3 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 by 𝗥𝘆𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘁 reflects on the legacy of the Cold War, focusing on Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam, where one of the longest and most devastating conflicts of the 20th century claimed three million lives. Marking fifty years since the war’s end, the artist traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, the site of the war’s conclusion, to create a project to commemorate the victims of war through a traditional funeral ritual.

Accompanied by other works, the exhibition transforms the space into a contemplative environment, bridging memory and spirituality. It is presented within the framework of the Creative Europe project (𝘐𝘯)𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴: 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘳, highlighting how art can engage with historical memory and explore alternative geopolitical narratives.

The exhibition invites audiences to reconsider Cold War histories from a Southeast Asian perspective, exploring how memory, identity, and geopolitics remain intertwined today.
